On the 13th December, 2023 1 decided to use the same words read out by the past President, Kevin Sheehan following the feedback received on the Reflection of the 15th December, 2021.
Moment of Reflection and Thanks — 15th December 2021
On this day, 15th December but in 2016, it was our Christmas Meeting and as MC, I had the pleasure of introducing our stalwart member, John Mitchell to lead us in THANKFUL REFLECTION as he had done so regularly, always with great style and worthy content.
On that occasion, President Quin, John and myself donned Santa Hats to kick off our meeting in a festive manner.
For John, it was his final reflection and without doubt, his best, which we can cherish in memory for sadly, John left us shortly afterwards.
I acknowledge that President Reg and past President Quin have reinstated this transition to repeat the words John had composed and delivered ... and today, I have that privilege.
"As we pause in this brief moment of Reflection and give thanks for the food we are about to receive, and the opportunity Rotary gives us to be of Service, our minds turn to the coming Festive Season.
Living in a free and tolerant society there is a recognition that irrespective of our personal religious beliefs, the message of the season — "peace on earth and goodwill to all people" — permeates our lives.
Quin Scalzo
Thank you to Quin Scalzo for providing this reflection on 13 December 2023.
