Our 5015th lunch meeting on 13 December 2023 was another well attended gathering celebrating the upcoming festive season and the beginning of the Clubs 2023-24 4-week summer break.

A packed house, at the Sofitel’s Number 35 Restaurant, joined the music and festive cheer for the final meeting of the year.

The President’s Annual Christmas Appeal will benefit PALZ an organisation for Professionals with Alzheimer’s. Donations can still be made to the Christmas Appeal. See the separate bulletin article.

Past President Bob Glinderman was MC and opened the meeting.

The reflection was delivered by Past President Quin Scalzo drawing on the distinguished final words to the Club  of past Member John Mitchell who passed away in December 2016  – this can be read later in this Bulletin.  

Induction or Irena Bauer from Canterbury Club, sponsored by Sandra Hills, and Will Brown New Designee from  Corporate Member RedR, introduced by Past president Robert Fisher.

After announcements, President Chris called on Jim Orchard to update the meeting on the Around the Bay fundraiser for The Smith Family. Jim presented Kate Baddiley from The Smith Family with a cheque for $23,124.00. Kate thanked the members of Rotary Melbourne for this generous donation and detailed how it would support students in the future.

David Kram then introduced violinist Jozseph Tallosi who then entertained members and guests.
