A group of 34 people comprising Rotary Melbourne members, partners and guest joined Barb Yerondais for the yearly architectural walking tour in Fitzroy.
We started at the French Fountain outside the exhibition buildings in the Carlton Gardens and meandered our way through the back streets of Fitzroy to the Union Club Hotel for dinner. The focus of the walk was the diversity of buildings behind the main roads, including the Housing estates that replaced the smaller ‘narrow’ dwellings that were demolished during the 60’s ‘slum clearance’ program.
The group was 34 and comprised of Melbourne Rotarians and friends and we had a couple of international Rotarians, who exchanged banners
Bryant Santana from Seminole County Sunset Club in Central Florida, USA, who was here to attend a wedding, and Helmut and Christianne Lange from RC Greinfenhorst in Krefeld Germany, visiting their daughter and grandchildren, who live in Thornbury.
Funds raised from the evening will go to Arts Committee projects.
Following the tour the group met at Union Club Hotel in Fitzroy for a convivial pub meal at this old-school pub with retro decor.

Thank you Barb Yerondais for another outstanding walk, which added to our appreciation of the heritage of our city.
