What’s in a number? A lot apparently when it comes to age.
I will note in passing, I hope not infringing on the guest speaker’s area, that when President Roosevelt was running in his last election his 42 year old challenger tried to make the president’s advanced age an issue. Roosevelt was 62.
What’s in a label? A bit apparently when it comes to generations. It’s currently said that it’s the first time that there are 8 different generations living together.
I won’t ask if anyone could actually name the 8 different labels. Each generation is shaped by the history they experience.
On my review in our Rotary Club we have 6 different generations serving together from, wait for it, generation Z to the so called silent generation, the last of whom were born in 1945. Who comes up with these names?
Rotary provides assistance from the very youngest, gen alpha, to the very oldest, the great generation, in our international and local branches. As Rotarians use your energy and experience, from across different generations, to make a difference and I for one am thankful. And I think we should be thankful for having the opportunity to serve.
Thank you Philip Cornish.
