The Rotary Melbourne Evening Conversation on Wednesday 10 July 24 was an Interclub Visit on zoom with Rotary Passport Club of Melbourne. Twelve Rotary Melbourne members tuned into the Rotary Passport changeover zoom meeting on Wednesday 10 July 24, which attracted a total of 47 participants. It was a very well-run meeting. The President changeover was handled efficiently without the ceremony due to it being an on-line event.
PDG Philip Archer gave a personal story about the magic of Rotary, this year’s theme.
Tangly Ton, from Rotary Siem Reap, gave a report on a new Rotoract global project called WASH. Tangly is sponsored by Rotary Melbourne to study at the University in Siem Reap.
Aviv Palti also gave all present a good understanding of the differences that are key to a Passport Club.
For such a small Club, chartered only a couple of years ago and with members scattered across the globe, it was inspiring and impressive to hear of the many projects carried out during the year just finished: container of goods for schools in Bougainville PNG; radiology equipment for Fiji, Solomon Is and PNG; support for schools in Timor Leste; 'Spreading the Cheer' for vulnerable people in Melbourne; 'Paws Walk' for the End Polio Now campaign and computer equipment for labs in Nepal.
Past President Aviv Palti (a regular RCM attendee) handed over the reigns to President Jennie Franklin. Jenni outlined her Board and projects they will work on during 2024-25.
Maria Hicks then presented Jess Palti with a Paul Harris Fellow award for her communications work and the project that she is involved with in Cambodia.
Peter Hall then presented on a ‘Chalk & Walk’ project in Nepal.
The late start 8.00pm probably held back our numbers. But for those in attendance, it was a worthwhile experience. You can view a recording of the meeting HERE using the password: t^@*?ZU6
