The words of General Sir John Monash, our Club’s second President, perfectly reflect Rotary’s 4 Objectives.
The first, provide service to others: “Success is not about how much you have, but about how much you give.”
The second, promote integrity: “Leadership is not about being right; it is about doing what is right.”
The third, advance world understanding: “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.”
The fourth, advance goodwill and peace: “Do not wait for the extraordinary circumstances to do good; try to use ordinary situations.”
Today we celebrate the life of John Monash, a life of service, integrity and leadership. A life that reminds us how actions, not words, build a reputation.
For fellowship forged in service to others, and friendships formed by good company shared over a fine meal, we give thanks.
