Welcome New Member - Antwan Malouhi

Rotary Melbourne welcomed and inducted Antwan Malouhi on 21 August 2024 with the classification Engineering - AI for Service.

Born in Abu Dhabi to Phoenicia family, Antwan arrived in Melbourne alone at the age of 16 after finishing his high school and worked to build a life for himself. In September 2020, he founded BTD Engineering, which specialises in lifting operation assessments. His company played a pivotal role in large infrastructure projects, including the West Gate Tunnel in Melbourne, the Sydney Metro, and mining support for BHP and Rio Tinto.

In September 2023, Antwan transitioned into the world of ethical artificial intelligence by founding Pu94, Australia’s first company dedicated to ethical AI. Pu94 focuses on providing accurate and transparent AI systems that support industries ranging from finance to scientific research. His AI work is particularly impactful in the life sciences, where he collaborates with the Royal Society of Victoria, contributing to vital research efforts.

In addition to his technical work, Antwan is deeply committed to social impact and community support. Through his collaboration with Lions Australia, Antwan’s AI system helps newcomers to Australia feel more at home by allowing them to communicate with the system in their native languages. This initiative reflects his dedication to using technology to foster inclusivity and support social cohesion.

Throughout his career, Antwan has demonstrated a commitment to innovation and ethical leadership, combining his engineering expertise with cutting-edge technology to make a lasting difference in both industry and community.
