Welcome New Member - Dr Dimitrios Salampasis

Rotary Melbourne welcomed and inducted Dr Dimitrios Salampasis on 28 August 2024 with the classification Innovation-FinTech. Dr Dimitrios is a member of the Kew-North Balwyn Rotary group.

Dr Dimitrios was born in Athens, Greece and has completed executive education, doctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate studies in Europe and in the US.  

Dr Dimitrios has international professional working experience in the private and public sector, legal services, international organizations, freelance management consulting, non-profit and military being involved in global strategic leadership and advisory activities in research and strategy on emerging market geopolitics and technology policy governance, assisting companies in developing long-term strategic focus and sustainable business strategies.

Dr Dimitrios relocated to Melbourne from Luxembourg in 2017 and he is the FinTech Capability Lead and Senior Lecturer of Emerging Technologies and FinTech at the Swinburne University of Technology.

Dr Dimitrios is a Visiting Professor of FinTech at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, Visiting Professor of FinTech at the University of Québec at Rimouski, Canada, Blockchain and FinTech Fellow at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, Visiting Faculty at the School of Management in Fribourg, Switzerland, and an Academic Council Member of the Global FinTech Institute.

Dr Dimitrios is the recipient of the 2022 Innovation Excellence Award by the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the 2021 Blockchain Educator of the Year Award by Blockchain Australia and the 2021 Swinburne University Vice Chancellor's Engagement Award - Industry Engagement (Individual).

Dr Dimitrios is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, a DEC Institute Research Fellow, a member of the CPA Australia Digital Transformation Centre of Excellence, a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council and the MIT Technology Review Global Panel.

Dr Dimitrios enjoys going to classical music and opera concerts, playing tennis, swimming, travelling, reading and writing.
