Kate Datson, Project Co-ordinator and Andrew Mauru, Clinical Nurse Educator
A heartfelt thank you to Rotary Club of Melbourne for their generous donation of a Zoll ventilator! This critical piece of equipment will greatly enhance our ability to transport critically ill snakebite patients to Port Moresby, providing life-saving support along the way.
Your support means so much to our team and the communities we serve, ensuring that we can continue to deliver essential care to those in need. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of snakebite victims in Papua New Guinea.
Thank you, Rotary Melbourne, for helping us save lives!
Message from Kate Katson, Project Coordinator
I’m the Project Coordinator for the PNG Snakebite Partnership here at St John Ambulance, apologies for not reaching out sooner.
We’ve been working closely with Andrew Watt during the transition, and the project is progressing well.
We’ve recently launched on LinkedIn—if you haven’t had the chance yet, please take a look! Over the coming months, we’ll be conducting staff training on managing airway emergencies and ventilator use, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress.
Our Clinical Nurse Educator, Andrew Maru (pictured), was thrilled to receive this donation, Sadly, it’s not uncommon for patients to die on the way to Port Moresby due to airway complications, and we’ve had several cases in the past four weeks alone. This donation will make a significant impact on the care we can provide to our patients.
Next week, on September 19th, is International Snakebite Awareness Day. We’ve planned some media launches around it, so keep an eye on this on our LinkedIn page above.
Thanks again for your continued support.
Warmest regards
Kate
