Prospective Members Evening Meeting 11 Sept 24

A Prospective Members Evening was held in the Rotary Club Melbourne (RCM) office on the evening of 11 September 2024.  It was well attended despite the poor weather and protests at the Convention Centre.  Of the 12 possible guests, 9 attended and braved the weather and protests, which is a good indication of the interest in our Club.  The prospective members were all contacted by President Catherine and all had previously attended club lunches as guests of members.

Guests were welcomed with drinks and nibbles which were organized by Jo, which provided an opportunity to engage before the main event.  The guests included a lawyer specializing in Family Law, Psychologist, Engineer, Finance Manager, CEO of a Not for Profit, Commercial Director, Chief Digital Officer, Mental Health Consultant and a Customer Service Manager.

President Catherine, Mary Barry and Deb Yin Foo presented to the prospective members providing information about the club, the many and varied projects and what it means to be a Rotarian.  Local, National and International Projects were highlighted and volunteering opportunities presented.  Various ways to contribute including hands-on volunteering in the local projects such as RIMERN to interacting with International Organizations such as UNICEF in International projects provided much discussion.

Jim Orchard, Sana Malik, Kenza Dairi and Robert Anthony supported the evening and assisted during the Q&A session.  There was much interest from the prospective members as evidenced by their continued presence even after the closing bell! The intimate setting of the RCM Office allowed for good interaction and great conversation.  A successful evening by all accounts and we hope to conduct similar evenings soon.

Thanks to Deb Yin Foo for providing this write up of the evening.
