Rotary Melbourne member Bruce Livett attended the Rotary Club of Kelowna, BC, Canada, District 5060, while visiting his daughter and granddaughter (18 months) on Wednesday 28 August 24. On his return to Australia Bruce will be inducted into the Rotary E-Club of Western Australia (as an Honorary Life Member).
The speaker at the Rotary Club of Kelowna meeting was the Head of BMW Kelowna who gave an impassioned, political delivery on the steep taxes in BC vs. Alberta that adds $30K additional to the cost of purchasing a new beamer in BC.
On Friday 13 Sept, the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced. Bruce is hoping it is Heidi Kuhn, who he had the good fortune to meet in San Francisco on 4-5 August 24 when he attended the Launch of a new film "The Way of the Rain" by Robert Redford on the 'Environment'. Heidi Kuhn, Founder of 'Roots of Peace'.
Heidi has been nominated for the Peace Prize for the superb work on the ground and for founding 'Roots of Peace' foundation. She has initiated to fund the removal of landmines from war ravaged lands throughout the world enabling the return of villagers to their lands and the return of the ravaged lands for food production.
