The Good Shepherd is setting up a crucial initiative - a Domestic Violence Service Hub to alleviate homelessness for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Families and have approached Rotary Melbourne's Safe Families for support. The location cannot be disclosed for safety and privacy reasons.
Purpose: The project addresses the issue of homelessness due to domestic violence, specifically targeting CALD families who often face unique challenges and barriers in accessing support services.
Description: The Hub will offer a safe, apartment-style accommodation for families. It will provide 24-hour social work support and access to a supportive community with amenities. The accommodation will cater to CALD mothers with young children or larger families.
Support needed: We’re having part of the grounds at the property fenced off to provide a safe play area for small children. If any Rotarian's have any contacts that would consider donating some play equipment for small kids, e.g. a slide, swings etc. then please contact Soula Drummond below with a copy to Peter Berg pberg7@bigpond.net.au
In addition, a barbecue would also be a great facility for the residents to have if you would consider donating one.
