At the Rotary Melbourne meeting on Wednesday 27 November 24 PP Bob Glindemann was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow 3 Ruby pin by PP Reg Smith, on behalf of the Club, in recognition of his service above self to Rotary.
Bob Glindemann, this year you’ve quietly retired from your leadership role at the Donations in Kind West Footscray Warehouse, which most of us know by its acronym as DIK.
It is an honour and privilege today to make a special presentation in recognition of your dedication to Rotary and your unwavering commitment to service above self.
For some 24 years, you have played a pivotal role in leading DIK to success.
Under your stewardship DIK has redistributed goods worth approximately $7.85 million, engaged over 2 million volunteer hours, and diverted countless valuable resources from landfill to communities in need around the globe.
On the eve of Timor-Leste’s Independence Day, we also acknowledge your contribution to the empowering and rebuilding this former Portuguese colony.
Leveraging the multiplier effect of the Rotary Foundation, you secured significant grants that have supported tangible economic projects such as East Timor Roofing and the East Timor Microfinance.
These projects exemplify your passion for sustainable development, empowering local communities with resources, training, and economic opportunities.
Your tireless work and leadership have left an indelible mark on District 9800 and beyond.
It is therefore with deepest gratitude, Rotary Melbourne honours your legacy of compassion, innovation, and service to humanity.
Bob, while we acknowledge that you have been well recognized in many ways by Rotary and the community the Board has decided to express your Club’s profound gratitude by making an additional $5,000 cash donation in your name to the Rotary Foundation, thus elevating your level of Paul Harris Fellow recognition to 3 Rubies.
