Rotary Melbourne (RM) supports Rotary Hawthorn in the important work of Rotary SAFE Families (RSF) on Domestic Violence in funding its educational and information messaging program along with the representation of 5 Club members on the RSF leadership team which most recently has been involved in a project taking RSF into local Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.
RSF has now been given a great opportunity to expand its outreach into the global Rotary international network.
RSF has been renamed Rotary SAFE Families – Building a Culture of Peace with RM member Peter Berg and Dorothy Gilmour President of Rotary Hawthorn as Co-Chairs. Dorothy and Mary Barry - RM Past President are co-founders of RSF.
Three distinguished international Rotarians - Pat Merryweather-Arges - Rotary International Past Vice-President 2023-24, Grace Van Zyl - Chair of Rotary Action Group for Peace/District Governor Nominee 9400 and Gordon McInally Rotary International President 2023-2024 are Patrons of RSF - Building a Culture of Peace.
The first step is to create bi-monthly RSF global Mega-Meetings with the initial meeting at 11.00am on Friday 7th March 25 (AEDT) with RM Past President Robert Fisher as Moderator. Presenters at the meeting will include Michael Lapina, District Governor D9800 2024-25. Professionals who work in the area of DV from around the world will be invited to speak at the Mega-Meetings.
