It will be of no surprise to Rotary Melbourne members that Clive Scott AM and former General Manager of the Sofitel on Collins is a passionate supporter of the Arts and alongside his role as Sofitel Australia’s Arts Ambassador, Clive chairs the Board of the Georges Mora Fellowship.
The fellowship is inspired by the life of Georges Mora a post-World War 2, migrant who settled and worked as an influential art dealer and restaurateur. He was a pivotal figure in the Australian art world, supporting artists of all ages in their attempts to express their ideas and individuality through their chosen medium.
Established in 2007 the Georges Mora Fellowship is awarded each year to a contemporary artist who has demonstrated excellence in their artistic field.
The Fellowship provides financial support (a cash grant of $10,000), residency opportunities and access to organisations and individuals with specialist knowledge to support the artist to research, experiment and create. Applications are now open to any Australian citizen or permanent resident who has a demonstrated art practice.
The successful fellow will have shown a continuous commitment to the field of contemporary art. Artists at all stages of their careers may apply, and there is no age limit. Applicants who have previously applied to the Georges Mora Fellowship must submit a new project proposal.
If undertaking a Post Graduate qualification, this project cannot contribute to your Post Graduate coursework (work submitted must be unsupervised). Applications close on 21 March 2025. For more information, follow this link.
