End Hepatitis Now Collaboration

For around 6 years Rotary Melbourne has been in collaboration with Hepatitis Victoria, now LiverWELL, to utilise the community influence of Rotarians to create greater awareness of viral hepatitis, both Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. This awareness raising was meant to lead to better testing, reduced stigma and increased treatments. Th    e project was conducted through in-person and on-line presentations to Rotary Clubs arranged by Deb Yin Foo and Trevor Nink.

In the first half of 2024, LiverWELL advised that the State Government strategy was changing to more direct actions with Hepatitis B. The Rotary Melbourne Health and Ageing Committee considered this change and discussed whether we were able to contribute effectively with the target audiences involved. Our answer was that we did not believe that we had the right contacts or audiences to continue the collaboration with LiverWELL and advised in August last year to end our involvement.
