Good afternoon Rotarians & Guests
The passing of David Nurse on 9 May 25 and his longstanding involvement with our Rotary Hawthorn – Camberwell Group is a segway into my brief reflection today.
Together with his wife Doff they were wonderful contributors to our group that met on a monthly basis and I believe our groups are a really integral aspect of club life.
Clearly Covid severely impacted our club life and the wonderful camaradrie that is a key ingredient of the Rotary Club of Melbourne, along with our luncheon and evening meetings and rewarding committee activities.
I urge Group Captains and all of us to support the meetings wherever possible, enabling newer members and their partners to integrate into the Club with longer standing members.
In addition, groups can provide wonderful friendship to our older members or their partners who for health or other reasons find it difficult to actively participate as they had in the past.
Thank you Peter Dakin
