Grand Finals, World Athletic Championships – we celebrate Australia’s wonderful talent whenever we honour our sports stars. In a troubled world, sport delivers the buzz that elevates the nation, it gives us permission to focus on young Australians at their best. In 128 seasons of AFL / VFL 1,641 footballers have played in a winning premiership team. Being a premiership winning player next Saturday is a 1 in 90,000 event.
Being our best, at whatever we do, serves the whole community. This is not the same as being the best, which is rare air. Let’s appreciate the best, be amazed at the skills on display, then commit to being our best.
Rotary makes the world a better place by providing opportunities for youth. Our Interact Clubs, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Rotary Youth Exchanges enable young people to develop leadership skills, gain confidence, build peace one young person at a time, learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. Young Australians at their best.
For fellowship forged in service to others, and friendships formed by good company shared over a fine meal, we give thanks.
