93 Years

It is with great sadness that Rotary Melbourne acknowledges the passing of our esteemed member, David Dunoon, who devoted over 56 years to Rotary and a member of this club since 2004.

David’s Rotary journey began in Swan Hill in 1969, where he served as Club President and District Governor’s Representative. A committed and generous Rotarian, he became a Paul Harris Fellow after joining Rotary Melbourne in 2004. David’s dedication to service and fellowship was felt by all who knew him.

In 2009, David was awarded the Axle Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution as On-to-Conference Chair for the District Conference in Launceston, an event attended by 31 of our members. He was celebrated for his meticulous planning, organising a memorable Club dinner, and ensuring a conference that many described as one of the finest ever.

David was an active member in a wide range of Club activities, including Reception, Health & Aging initiatives, and other fellowship events. His presence at Club lunches, encouragement of new members, and sponsorship of fellow Rotarians exemplified his belief in “Service Above Self.”

Outside Rotary, David enjoyed a distinguished career as Business Director at Swan Hill Resort, from 1961 to 2001. Educated at Wesley College and Swan Hill School, he carried his commitment to excellence and community service into every aspect of his life.

David’s warmth, leadership, and dedication will be deeply missed by all members of Rotary Melbourne and the wider Rotary community. Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife Lynne and the entire family.
