Our 2025 Cynthia’s Gift Awardee, Elena Suprihartono attended last week’s meeting to hear our Guest Speaker, Professor Jeremy Oats AM who has since her Award was conferred last August, has mentored Elena as she prepared and then sat her Medical School interviews.
In December, Rotary Melbourne and her sponsoring Organization, Western Chances were delighted to learn that Elena was accepted into Medical School at Melbourne University and earlier this month she commenced her studies. Additionally, Elena was awarded a residency Scholarship at Ormond College. Well done Elena, who was one of three 2025 Awardees who are mentored by the Cynthia’s Gift Committee.
All this has been made possible by the generous bequest of our dear past Member, Cynthia Edgell and it is a privilege to be able to perpetuate her memory by continuing the community work that she undertook over many years, supporting and mentoring young women achieve their goals.
Earlier this month our Cynthia’s Gift Committee (a Sub-Committee of our Community Welfare Committee) launched the 2026 Awards through our sponsoring Partner Organisations with a closing date of 7th March 26. Already applications have been received and following the Committee’s review in the weeks ahead, the 2026 Awards will be conferred at our Rotary luncheon meeting on 27th May 26.
