I’m very grateful to have participated in last week’s meeting with Jennifer Jones
Her heartfelt presentation, together with Ruth Maritinez’s reflection served as a reminder of Rotary’s important goals, especially in promoting peace
In Rotary we foster understanding and interaction between people of different backgrounds and cultures. We take action to support refugees and train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict to create a safer and more harmonious world for all people.
Peace is a profound state of rest for the heart, mind, and body, acting not merely as the absence of conflict, but as an active, harmonious presence of security and justice. It is a gift of grace that demands cultivation through intentional action, bridging internal serenity with outward peacemaking to reconcile communities.
Rather than just maintaining a quiet, superficial calm, true peace involves dismantling systems of injustice and fostering reconciliation.
Reflections on global and spiritual peace often highlight four essential foundations:
"Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding." "Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means." "To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart."
I’d like to leave you with a list of Actions for a peaceful world
For good food and fellowship lets practice peace
Thank you to Barbara Yerondais.
