What began as a commitment to providing education has grown into a community that supports children and young people to complete school, develop leadership skills and pursue meaningful employment.

Today, EYC operates three schools serving around 700 primary and secondary students living in informal settlements. Despite the challenges these communities continue to face, including displacement through fire and urban redevelopment, EYC has remained a constant source of stability and opportunity.

For the past nine years, the Rotary Club of Melbourne, Vic, together with more recently Rotary District 9800, has partnered with EYC to support high school and university scholarships. The program currently provides scholarships for 87 vulnerable secondary students and four university students, helping remove financial barriers that would otherwise prevent them from completing their education.

A recent visit by Rotary project leader David Hayes reaffirmed the impact of this partnership. Visiting each of EYC’s schools provided first-hand insight into the resilience of students, the dedication of staff and the transformative power of sustained investment in education.
