“Christmas Hampers for the Homeless”  Project was hosted by Melbourne City Rotaract Club with funding  provided by Rotary Club of Melbourne under the organisation of  James Pullar.    Food Hampers were  provided to people staying at the Southbank Crisis Accommodation site which is run by Launch Housing.

Southbank Crisis Accommodation Program offers a short stay at supported accommodation for people in immediate and urgent need of a place to stay. During their stay, they offer clients short-term, intensive case management and support to help them move into alternative, sustainable housing.

Southbank is a 51 bed crisis accommodation facility where people are able to live for up to 8 weeks. The facility provides a safe and supportive environment with individual case management and group work programs.  Southbank receives additional funding from the Federal Government Home and Community Care program to provide nutrition and well-being programs for residents.

Project purpose was to provide some joy for the people around this holiday period who had  feelings of abandonment and isolation.   Everyone deserves a joy-filled Christmas and there are people who  do not receive gifts to enhance their own enjoyment around this festive spirit time.

The Melbourne City Rotaract Club members sourced, filled and wrapped each hamper which was then provided to people  staying at the Southbank Crisis Accommodation site.
