Interview with Dr Elaine Saunders

It was inspirational and profoundly revealing to talk with Elaine about the night she spent with only sleeping bag and pillow, orange beanie and two pieces of cardboard sleeping on a carpark’s cold, hard concrete without any other comforts including a nip of alcohol to warm the body and spirit.

Elaine joined  223 Melbourne CEO’s recently in this now annual event where business and community leaders are invited for one night to “sleep rough”,  be “face to face with poverty” and challenged to raise $700,000 to support the Vinnies Soup Van Program.   The CEO Sleepout helps raise vital funds and awareness for people experiencing poverty and homelessness.

On the night,  Elaine was interviewed for the Melbourne University video twitter feed on the topic of hearing loss among homeless people.  She also publicised the work of Rotary Club of Melbourne and Recycled Sound.   Later,  Elaine was interviewed directly on radio on this subject.

Monash Peace Cantata

Let there be peace....The clarion call of Melbourne’s most famous son, John Monash, opens a new massed choral work. Composed by David Kram and written by Kevin O’Flaherty.    PEACE is the first musical work to tell the story of the great man’s life.
