RICK & ED TUDOR, DIRECTORS, MELBOURNE INDIGENOUS TRANSITION SCHOOL

Topic:  Melbourne Indigenous Transition School

This week we shall have father and son team of Rick and Ed Tudor, Director and Executive Director respectively of Melbourne Indigenous Transition School.

ROTARIAN JOHN MITCHELL INDIGENOUS SCHOLARSHIP

The inaugural Rotarian John Mitchell Indigenous Scholarship is to be awarded. As most of you will know, our Club has supported the indigenous homeland, Donydji or, as it is now known, Gurrumala, for over 15 years, both financially and in kind. Until his sudden death last Christmas, John Mitchell was a key member of the Rotary SubCommittee providing this support and was its Chairman from its inception.

LAST WEEK'S SPEAKER

RT. HON. ROBERT DOYLE AC, LORD MAYOR OF MELBOURNE

Robert Doyle provided a fantastic insight into "The State of the City" with a Population of 4.7 million people.  Some of the data Robert gave included that if Melbourne were a group of 100 people,  49 are male and 51 are female.

 

OUR LIFE HONORARY MEMBER

KEVIN O'FLAHERTY

Kevin was made our newest Life Honorary Member on 16 August, 2107.  He was inducted into the Rotary Club of Melbourne on 20 May, 1992 and President Mary Barry had great pleasure confirming Life Honorary Membership to this esteemed Member of our Club.

The final Evening Meeting for the Rotary Club of Melbourne will be held on 6 December.  Please save the date and details will be provided at a later time.

 

DISTRICT WINE APPRECIATION EVENT

Our Members and friends are invited to attend the Rotary Wine Appreciation Fellowship Annual Event hosted by the Rotary Club of Keilor.   This is to be held on Sunday, 3 December and our Reg Smith is leading a party of interested folk and is happy to arrange shared travel arrangements.  Please contact Reg Smith: reg.smith@bigpond.com.

District 9800 Conference Bookings:  The planning is well advanced for the Rotary District 9800 Annual Conference in Warrnambool on 16 to 18 March,  2018. 

Early Bird registrations close on 30 November:  If you are considering attending this inspirational, fellowship event, you need to act early to take advantage of the "Early Bird Offer".
