We are pleased to advise that our Organising Committee is well advanced in organising the 2023, Second Rotary World Environment Day luncheon on Wednesday 17 May 2023 in the Sofitel Ballroom.
Numbers in person and on-line increased last week with an interesting presentation from Professor Graham Currie from Monash University on the compelling subject of Melbourne’s Public Transport Future.
Good news - a study on UK trees shows that trees could store almost twice as much carbon as previously thought. Different trees will have different levels of sequestration though and likely cannot directly apply results of this study to Australia because of many different species of trees - still very promising news and other future studies hopefully provide similar results. The Club’s first meeting at the Sofitel celebrated Rotary’s Vocational Service month, featuring three members – Moderator Richard Parker whose career embraced major projects such as public housing and the Melbourne City Link project, major project management expert, Nick Pelham, and residential project manager and architect, Barbara Yerondais.
In 2022 Jemima Halprin undertook to produce a video for her VCE Media exam. It is titled 'Little Little' and is about a Burmese refugee, Rashid, who arrived by boat with his family and is now studying at Swinburne University.

The Balwyn Group had its summer lunch on Sunday 15 January at the lovely residence of Robin and Liz Reid. It was a perfect occasion enjoyed by all.
Our Club Meeting Photographers need some additional volunteers. The aim is to have sufficient photographers so that you would only be scheduled every two or three months to take photos at our weekly meeting.
You do not have to be an expert photographer. We have guidelines which describe what is required, and we will provide induction / additional support for all new volunteers. It is a great opportunity to help develop your photographic skills and get involved in recording the history of our Club!
