🌱 Inspired to Make a Difference! 🌱
Simone Carson’s incredible presentation on the achievements of SecondBite upon receiving our club's 2024 Vocational Service Award inspired member Tony Battaini to take the leap into volunteering – and what an experience it’s been! At his first session at Prahran Market, Tony was warmly welcomed by Simone herself and had the privilege of being guided by the fantastic Robert Fisher.
The generosity and cooperation of the fruit & veg, bakery, and deli operators were nothing short of amazing. Tony was struck by the quality of the produce collected – food that would otherwise have gone to waste – and found the experience both eye-opening and rewarding.
It’s shocking how much perfectly good food gets discarded – but at SecondBite, that food gets a second chance to make a difference for people in need.
For Tony, this is more than volunteering: it’s contributing to a meaningful program of generosity and environmental sustainability, all rolled into one brilliant activity.
