The evening commenced with music, drinks and nibbles around an open fire pit within the forecourt where the students cooked damper on sticks to share. The students were part of the meet and greet with Edward Tudor who recently received our Club’s Vocational Service Award.
Also the Class of 2018 Term Captains made superb presentations as part of the commencement formalities. The support of the RCM was recognised as we in turn are pleased to honour the memory of our esteemed past member, John Mitchell with the award of an annual MITS scholarship in his name.
The night was a chance for us to celebrate our student’s individual journeys, and hearing from both current students Elaine and Kayden, as well as alumni Anthony and Naomi.
And, of course, there were so many other highlights. The touching performance from Uncle Archie Roach had everyone mesmerised by his brilliant ability to share his story. The beautiful words of MITS Director Gina Milgate was a chance for us all to reflect on the power of unity amongst diversity; may those saltwater and freshwater bubbles continue to rise! And we cannot forget Hamish Blake and Rohan Brown’s unparalleled energy, which made our live auction and pledges both entertaining, and importantly, immensely successful. What a night!
