The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding signified the commencement of a supportive and committed relationship of two clubs with the same mission.
President Robert conveyed to Members: "Rotaract is a leadership, professional and community service organisation, similar in some ways to Rotary, but designed to attract young people between the ages of 18 and 30. They are therefore prospective Rotarians, yet we haven’t done as much as we might to work closely with one of the local Rotaract Clubs.
That is about to change. We have been developing a relationship in recent months with Melbourne City Rotaract Club, and it is with great pleasure that today I am signing a cooperative Memorandum of Understanding with my counterpart in Melbourne City Rotaract Club, President Martin Wilson. I am sure this is the start of a fruitful relationship for both parties."
Rotaract is a Rotary sponsored service Club for young men and women aged 18 to 30, which makes them true ‘partners in service’ and key members of the Family of Rotary. There are more than 8,400 Rotaract Clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas.
All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service. Mentoring is provided by the sponsoring Club to enable vocational and professional development for individuals and assist in leadership growth.
Rotaract Clubs in D9800 undertake fundraising and humanitarian projects of their own, as well as assisting with RYPEN and MUNA programs and other Rotary projects.
