Cynthia E Edgell
Since her induction in 2004 Cynthia has been a most active Rotarian. In the 2004/2005 year she became a member of the Public Relations Committee, the Membership Development Committee and the Malvern Group. She remained on the Public Relations Committee until June 2006. To this day, she remains active as a member of the Malvern Group.
In 2005/2006 she joined the Vocational Service Committee, where she remains today, having chaired the committee for a number of years. She has also been a member of the Reception Committee for several years.
In 2008 a team from our club went to east Timor. Cynthia was the only female member of our Club on that team. She was the often-ignored safety officer for our building project in Baucau. Together with Daryl Hawkey's wife Julie, she went off into the country to check progress on our micro credit projects.
In that year - 2008 – Cynthia received the Axle Award for her passionate and enthusiastic service to the Club and our community – more particularly due to her chairing both the Vocational Service Committee and the Reception committee. The Axle Award is voted on by the Board and is given to the Rotarian who, in the previous 12 months, had given that little bit extra in their Service Above Self and was presented as the Vice-Presidents’ Encouragement Award.
For some time, Cynthia was a regular Second Bite volunteer at the Prahran Market. On her last roster she was seen changing out of a Salvos collectors top before donning the red apple for the evening.
Additionally, Cynthia is or has been heavily involved with the Vintage Sale, Womens Group (now known as the Think Tank), and as a mentor to the Brotherhood of St. Laurence. In everything she does, Cynthia exemplifies grace, friendship and Service Above Self.
Cynthia’s passionate and enthusiastic service to the Club is reflected in the various roles she has assumed; in the same passionate way she embraces life.
