Peter Davis graduated with degrees in law and economics and is an Accredited Specialist in Property Law with the Law Institute of Victoria and is a member of the Advisory Committee for Property and Commercial Tenancy Law.
Peter was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria on 2 April 1984 and has continuously worked as a solicitor from that time. His main area of work has been all aspects of property law including sales and purchases, subdivisions, property advice and leasing. He became a Property Law Specialist in 1995 (one of fewer than 80 in the State) and is a current member of the Law Institute of Victoria Property & Commercial Tenancy Law Advisory Committee.
Peter was inducted into the Rotary Club of Melbourne on 28 May 2008 with the classification of Solicitors – Property Law. His sponsor was Bernie McIntosh.
Since his induction Peter has been quite active in the Club. He initially served on the Reception Committee and the Student Exchange Committee, later becoming its Chair. He and his family hosted Lucas Haddad in 2008/2009.
In 2016 Peter was involved with the Herald Sun Tour Corporate Prologue and is one of our annual Around the Bay riders. He is well known for his involvement in, and later chairing, the 0808 and Monash Medal committees.
Peter currently serves on the Board as Director Corporate Issues, and is an active member of the Balwyn Group.
Our club appealed the decision of the State Revenue Office to impose stamp duty on the purchase of our new office at 15 Collins Street in September 2015. The appeal process required a huge amount of work over some three years by several people in particular, each of whom was very generous with their time and resources. One such was Peter Davis, who acted pro bono in his role as Solicitor for the Club, attended efficiently to all procedural matters and made certain that we complied with all time limits and requirements.
For his sustained commitment to Service Above Self it gives me pleasure on behalf of the Board and Members of the Rotary Club of Melbourne to name Peter Davis a Paul Harris Fellow.
