Trevor as born in Bombay India to an eminent Anglo Indian family with deep links to the Rotary Club tradition. Trevor was educated at St Paul's High School and went to St. Xavier's college where he completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Life Sciences and Biochemistry and was commended for publishing a research paper on plasmid genetics while still an undergraduate and working part time at the Caius Research Laboratory.
Trevor chose to emigrate to Australia in 1992, where his extended maternal family, namely the Lyons, had called Australia home since the 1960s and he then became a naturalised Australian citizen in 1995.
After migrating to Australia, Trevor was drawn to a career in enterprise technology management roles and worked in the private sector across a variety of tier one service organisations such as Telstra, Qantas, AGL and ANZ Banking Group, delivering complex technology and digitally enabled business solutions for over 20 years. Trevor completed his Master of Business (Marketing) with Distinction from the RMIT Business School 2001 and continued his post graduate studies, successfully completing business programs at the prestigious Mount Eliza Business School (2015) and Melbourne Business School (2016).
Trevor decided to work in areas that made a real difference and had a direct impact on the Australian community. He resolved to bring his technological solution design and business problem solving skills to the public sector. It was at this time, he accepted his first Federal government role in 2011 and was appointed Director of Language and Digital Services at the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship and was awarded the 2016 Australia Day Achievement Medallion for delivering a complete range of government access and equity programs through the use of technology. He is currently senior executive as Director of Digital and Customer Services at the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and is currently working on the $1.3 billion dollar Solar Homes program designed to put solar panels on 700,000 Victorian homes over the.coming years.
Trevor is personally committed to giving back to the community he lives in as many ways as possible, is a practising Catholic and serves as a member on the St Peter's Toorak Parish and Finance Committee, a lector at Mass and is part of various formal and informal mentoring programs. Trevor is an amateur photographer, enjoys Latin Jazz and percussion, loves travelling to collect new experiences, is a "foodie" of some note and a Couta boat sailing enthusiast to boot.
Trevor is passionate about the positive power of people, has faith in Our Lord and aspires to work for and with the United Nations some day.
Trevor gets inspiration from his idol Mahatma Gandhi who famously said, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” In other words, although life changes are inevitable, we can also initiate personal change so we can rise to the challenge and become a bigger and better person as a result.
Trevor will be part of the Malvern Group and we welcome him and look forward to working together in Rotary Melbourne.
