CONGRATULATIONS CHARLIE!

Charlie was transferred to Sydney last year and is a Member of Rotary Sydney.

His Citation reads:

"Superintendent Charles Thomas Allen - Superintendent Allen joined Victoria Police in 1982 and served in a range of general duties positions in the Melbourne metropolitan area.  He then worked for 12 years as an investigator at Dandenong Criminal Investigations Unit and the Homicide Squad.

Whilst serving in the Recruiting Services Branch, he led system change identifying and rectifying systemic gender bias which led to significant attraction and recruitment of women into VICPOL.  In 2008, he assumed the role of Local Area Commander at Dandenong where he helped lead the community through a difficult period when South Sudanese settlement was at the forefront of community disharmony.

In 2003, he became a community leader and social change agent for VICPOL.  He developed expertise in problem solving approaches to social issues and sought to activate police as social leaders.  He was promoted to Superintendent in 2014 with the Priority and Safer Communities Division where he has driven a five to ten year change program for all police officers to value effective community engagement.

Superintendent Allen has provided both dedicated and committed service to VICPOL and the community of Victoria, for over 36 years."
