MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT SURVEY PART 3

Please be assured that they are being followed up by the appropriate people in our Club to ensure that one of the goals of our survey is realised  – to maximise the engagement of our members in ways that best suit THEM.

Here is a selection:

  •  “I understand the Club's modus operandi, but personally I am most interested in humanitarian support close to home and believe new members would welcome the opportunity to get closer to support on the streets”
  • “I want to broaden my involvement in humanitarian activities partially to deepen my understanding of project formation and responding to community opportunities and gaps”
  • “I’m still working quite a lot so my available time is quite limited”
  • “I have had interest in partnering from a Rotary Club in Zambia, but it seems to be outside of our area of focus. They are looking to provide assistance to vocational students on graduation from their training in trades such as carpentry and bricklaying”
  • “I wrote a letter to the Board suggesting an improved and transparent project selection and funding model based on AusAID procedures”
  • “As I am now 83 years of age and residing outside Melbourne, I am not in a position to participate in committee meetings set in the city. I am however prepared and able to be involved in special exercises, including planning meetings of substance”
  • “I am interested in Peace Fellowships and Global Scholarships”
  • “I am happy to enter the mentoring program”
  • “I would like to be kept in touch with further peace initiatives”
  • “Great to see for the first time in many years we become serious about fundraising. This should continue to be a priority for RCM on a yearly basis with a minimum nominated target”
  • “When I joined Rotary I had moved to part time work so I thought I would have an opportunity to become involved with various committees and projects.  However, several months after I joined I took a permanent full time role so I am unable to be more involved with the Club, but I expect this to change in the future”
  • “I have not been able to attend RCM meetings for a number of years due to competing demands, especially undertaking a PhD. The research is coming to an end and I am hoping to become more active again with the Club”
  • “We need less bureaucracy and more humour; more members having a chat at the rostrum”
  • “We should share our personal health issues”
  • “Happy to contribute where my expertise can be used  which is why I can only do one big thing rather than lots of little ones”
  • “This is the most odd and confusing survey layout I have ever encountered in 40 years of academic exposure to same.

I love the last comment – we’ll try harder next time!  My thanks to everyone who gave of their time in completing the Survey. I hope it will lead to Rotary Melbourne being more vibrant, relevant and fulfilling for you.
