WISH OUR GLOBAL SCHOLAR SUCCESS!

Katie has been working tirelessly for months on her research project and is very excited to submit it! She set out on a cultural journey, weaving through heaps of policies, declarations, frameworks, and position papers to answer the following research question: What are the embedded intentions regarding Koori peoples in Victorian education documents?

Through rigorous critical discourse analysis of two Victorian education documents, she was able to uncover two conflicting overarching themes in the discourse, one revolving around the idea of normalisation and the other, reconciliation. More interpretation regarding her findings can be found in her research paper. Katie is making her paper available for you to read.  Simply contact Jo Mavros for Katie's details.

To celebrate, Katie is going to Chin Chin’s for dinner with a fellow Rotarian. It’ll be her first time! Celebrations continue, as Katie is treating herself to a two-week trip to Perth. Don’t worry, she’ll make it back to Melbourne the morning of Kevin’s induction!

July will be filled with museums, Rotary meetings, volunteering at DIK and Epping Secondary, and last-minute adventures in the city. She will also fly up to Uluru for a few days, crossing the beautiful sunset experience off her bucket list. Katie flies home the 30th of July.

If you have any suggestions on “must-sees” or “-dos” in the city, let Katie know! She’d hate to miss out on something!
