Robert's review can be read here:
"Sixty Rotarians, partners and friends were treated to a unique musical at the Comedy Theatre recently. The story was told of 38 aeroplanes being grounded at the regional airport of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada, when US airspace was shut down as a result of 9/11.
What ensued was a remarkable demonstration of human kindness, with local communities rallying round to look after some 7,000 stranded passengers for several days before they could return to their aircraft and head home. In the meantime, they were fed, clothed, offered accommodation in homes, churches and halls, provided with transport and entertained. There was plenty of frustration and tension, yet lots of fun and laughter as friendships developed.
The choreography was slick as each actor assumed several roles with simple costume changes, the folk music was delightful and the pace throughout relentless. The audience responded with a standing ovation.
We were lucky to have - as a bonus - an on-stage Q and A session with real people who were involved in the situation: a US airline captain, two former Mayors from Newfoundland and a couple of passengers who subsequently married. It underscored the spirit of generosity of their characters represented on stage, and of course of so many others caught up in an event that changed the world for ever."
