EVENING MEETING SUCCESS

"Thank you Ari Talantis for your summary of a terrific Evening Meeting:  "Principal Lawyer Molina Asthana was the guest speaker at the last evening meeting held on the 30th of July. The topic was “Running toward Sporting Inclusion - A Lawyer's Story.” Raising awareness on issues such as unconscious bias and the isolation women migrants face, the presentation put a different spin on issues around social integration.

Focusing on women who are from newly arrived ethnic groups, or from the second wave of migration from an existing group such as the Indian Community, Molina talked about how involvement in sport not only empowers these women, it acts as a vehicle for social inclusion and the building of networks. The conversation that ensued focused on the changes in migration since the ’50s & 60’s and the social isolation women migrants face, whether it’s from unconscious bias or misconceptions from both mainstream Australia and the migrant communities.

Details for the next evening meeting on the 26th of August will be published soon. As always these meetings are co-hosted with Leadership Victoria and are small in number, intimate with fellowship in spades. We hope you can make it to our next meeting."
