LATEST ON OUR ROTARY SAFE FAMILIES

  1. Mark Pinoli has offered to video our 2 Workshops and Mary and Dorothy are busily writing a "script" whilst planning an accompanying Train the Trainer video.  The Workshops are already available to Clubs in a two Overhead Workshop model but when videos are completed, Clubs will be able to select which model will be simpler for them to facilitate to their Members.
  2. Perth Rotary want Rotary Safe Families as the "cornerstone" of their successful "Path of Hope" program in WA.
  3. Dorothy has been presenting to local Rotary Clubs  including Yarraville, Mt Eliza and Central Melbourne and has another three presentations at this date, Knox, Wyndham Harbour, Drouin.
  4. Fourteen Clubs including Sydney Ryde, Fitzroy in Queensland, a club in NZ, Maryborough, Sydney Ryde, New Guinea have shown interest and have been sent the Information Pack.
  5. Deakin University Freelancing HUB Post Graduate students are working in a team to provide a report on how they believe RSF needs to be "rolled out" effectively to both Rotary Clubs and external organisations.  Terrific enterprise at no cost to Rotary with a win-win for us and the students.
  6. Rotary Down Under has promoted Rotary Safe Families along with R100 events in their August edition. This has created many expressions of interest from around Australia.
  7. Some Clubs are interested only in the Elder Abuse workshop as they are working on elder abuse specifically in their own club projects with their local community.  We are working with them and their communities.
  8. NAB has shown interest in Elder Abuse.  Elder abuse is on their training and personal development program as the Bank staff see elder abuse daily when a family member escorts an older person to the bank to have documents altered and re-signed and staff witness the older person's anxiety and feel helpless.
  9. Victoria Police Mentee has met with Dorothy and she invited him to address Mt Eliza Rotary Club recently when she was speaking.  Victoria Police have suggested Dorothy might like to link in with Victoria Police working with Bendigo Bank.

This is a very exciting time for Rotary Melbourne's R100 Project Rotary Safe Families.  There is much work needed and Mary Barry, Dorothy Gilmour and Graham O'Donald would appreciate more Ambassadors and Champions to help.

If you are unable to give this project your time,  but have any contacts that you believe might be interested in Rotary Safe Families,  please talk with Dorothy.

Please contact Dorothy if you might be willing to assist in this initiative.  gilmour.dorothy@gmail.com
