Monash Leadership Forum 2019
"After a break of two years, Rotary Melbourne and The Spirit of Australia Foundation decided to pick up the hosting role for the Monash Leadership Forum. This had not been held since 2016 due to the ill health of its initiator, Kevin O’Flaherty.
This year's Forum was held at Scotch College on Thursday 5 September. With around 60 Year 10 students and their teachers from a diverse range of schools and with an impressive line up of speakers, the forum was an outstanding success.
The speakers were Mr Phil de Young, Headmaster of Trinity Grammar School, Associate Professor Jane Munro (Rotary Melbourne member), Grant Scott, President Engineers Australia (Vic) and Major General Jim Barry, Deputy Chairman, The Spirit of Australia Foundation. Rotary Melbourne President, Kevin Sheehan, was the closing speaker and formally closed the Forum. The MC for the afternoon was Nicholas Marks, School Captain Scotch College.
The speakers covered various aspects on the theme of ‘Leadership’ and during a very lively discussion and question time, provided many insightful and thought-provoking answers to the perceptive questions posed by the students.
Following such a successful experience in reaching out to the youthful talent that is in our schools, it would seem that this initiative should continue into the future." Thanks Maggie.
