The United Nations declared October 11 as International Day of the Girl and is recognized worldwide since 2012.
The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girl’s empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.
There is an estimated 130 million girls between the age of 6 and 17 are out of school (15 million of these girls are of primary-school age). - According to UNESCO
It’s a BIG number to try and get our head around, more so when there is 24.6 million people living in Australia. How is this possible we ask our self?
I believe EDUCATION and LEADERSHIP is a critical part of this SOLUTION. At Gift a Dream Foundation we are doing something about it.
We are educating and sending girls to school and we are proud to report that we have girls who have stayed in school and they are in either high school, continued their studies to college, and a degree. We have girls who have graduated and are now financially supporting their families. We are also are thrilled to have a girl who is now doing her masters in finance.
Our annual Youth Leadership programs are empowering the girls and giving them a platform to have a voice.
