PICNIC AT ZOO

Our Welfare of the Young team and Ted Garland invite you and your children/grandchildren to the annual Picnic at the Zoo on Saturday, 18 January.  Rotarians are welcome to don the Rotary Melbourne red jacket and join Ted at 11.00 am.

Not only will you enjoy a picnic with Members and family but we shall meet with 50 refugee families and their children.  These children are settling into Melbourne after fleeing conflict and disaster and this annual picnic is a great way to meet, share and extend our hand of friendship.

Ted has advised that he will be at the Rail Gate adjacent to the Royal Park Train Station at 11.00 am on Saturday, 18 January together with the volunteers from Kids Zone.

See attached map:  https://www.zoo.org.au/media/2825/6196b-mz-spring-property-maps-web.pdf for location on right if entering through Main Gate.  This would be the appropriate place for Rotarians to meet the ASRC visitors.

“Goodies Bags” and food vouchers will be given to the 50 families as they arrive. It is expected that the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre children and family will gather at Carousel Park around 12.30 – 1.00 to enjoy lunch together.

If you need more information, please contact Ted Garland (use Directory) or Dorothy Gilmour: 0412 760 780

Bring a hat, picnic lunch and a smile.  We shall look forward to seeing you at Melbourne Zoo.
