"Dear friends of The Big Issue,
In these uncertain times, we have been seeking solace in stories of solidarity and community. We’ve seen an outpouring of compassion and generosity from our partners and friends, including messages of support and questions about how people can help the most vulnerable in our community.
At this stage we are continuing to publish our well known and much-loved regular magazine, but with the streets clearing and the challenges for those living on the margins who rely on selling The Big Issue increasing, we are now exploring new and innovative ways to support our workforce during this unsettling period.
We are also encouraging our Big Issue community to come together and support those experiencing homelessness, disadvantage and marginalisation throughout this increasingly challenging time in the following ways:
1. Subscribe to the magazine. Subscriptions are available on a month-to-month basis through The Big Issue website, with a new copy of the magazine delivered to your door each fortnight.
2. Donate to The Big Issue. Donating online is another way to support us as we continue to develop ways to help our vendors during this unsettling time. Donations are tax-deductable and can be made online through our website.
3. Spread the love. Social connection is one of the most important parts of selling The Big Issue magazine and is so important for the wellbeing of our community. If you’d like to send a message to your local vendor, please email submissions@bigissue.org.au and we’ll do our best to pass it on to your nominated vendor.
We will continue to closely monitor the ever-changing COVID-19 situation on a day-to-day basis, as we follow ongoing advice from government and health authorities to prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of our vendors, staff, volunteers and customers.
