OUR WORK CONTINUES

Letter from Martin Forrest, Health Promotion Programs Manager Hepatitis Victoria:

"....Thank you very much for your email response regarding continuation of the End Hepatitis Now program.

I was very pleased that there appears to be a consensus among the members of the Rotary Club of Melbourne that this is a program worthy of continuation in these challenging times.

I suggest that we have been given an opportunity to be innovative in our delivery of the “Silk Purse”.

There are a couple of suggestions I have for progressing activities.

Continuing presentations remotely

This is something we are becoming quite adept with across many of our program areas. There are a few things we need to take into consideration, some of which will be dependent on the individual club setup and access to the necessary technology and expertise. Ideally, we will be able to provide options which account for these factors. So, I imagine this will require some scoping and liaison between the various communications people, but by no means insurmountable.

Rotary Hep Hero's

While we sort through some of the technology and delivery options, it would be very useful to be able to populate the Rotary Hep Hero’s web page and demonstrate to clubs across the state that we have champions who lead the way.

I strongly recommend that all Rotarians in recipient of this email go to the webpage:

http://www.hepvic.org.au/page/78/become-a-hepatitis-hero and take the few moments required to complete the submission form. I can offer individual support with this if required, but should be a straightforward process.

This will help enormously with the continued promotion of the program.

Rotary Down Under publication

I would also be very interested to receive feedback on the article prepared for the magazine. I have re-attached this to this email. Please let me know if you require any edits or have any comments on the article.

In Conclusion

I was reflecting on why I was so pleased by your indication that you thought the program worthy of continuation. Many of the community groups that Hepatitis Victoria engages with as a part of our health promotion programs can be very challenging as they are vulnerable and marginalised groups. My personal experience of working with the Victorian Rotary Clubs is satisfying as the members are generous and the feedback after the sessions has been very positive. A pleasure to work with people who strive to give back to the community.

I am very excited by your clubs continued enthusiasm for the End Hepatitis Now Project.

Regards   Martin"
