Dear Kevin
I am writing this email to you with a real sense of optimism.
Our students and teachers would like to share this short video, which they have made with the help of Fancy Films, to show you how they are continuing with their learning. We really hope you enjoy hearing from them.
Over the past five weeks we have experienced the commitment that our students, their families and the broader MITS community have shown towards our shared educational goals. Despite the unique challenges they are facing, our students have demonstrated courage and determination in persevering with their education, and care for their classmates.
Ensuring equitable access to education during this time of remote learning is a profound challenge for all schools. Walking through the school gates is a great equaliser, as every student has the resources and support they need to succeed. At MITS, our staff and community are working hard to ensure that our students continue to have all they need to thrive while learning remotely.
Coles has contributed stationery packs, King & Wood Mallesons has printed and bound workbooks and Telstra has provided wifi dongles to enable students to learn from home. This has been enormously helpful for our teachers and boarding staff who are working with students via WhatsApp, Google Classrooms and phone every day.
We look forward to welcoming our students back to Melbourne soon. In the meantime, we are excited to be working with our young people so that they continue to thrive and grow while learning from home, supported by their families and communities.
I am sure you share the sense of pride and admiration we have for our students. Thank you for being an important part of their educational journey.
Best wishes
Ed
