VOLUNTEERS? INITIATIVE with CITY of MELBOURNE

PP Robert Fisher:  "We are developing a partnership with City of Melbourne on a number of fronts.

Melbourne is keen to uphold its reputation as a world leading destination for international students, and to demonstrate that it is a caring city, ready to support them particularly at this unprecedented time.

In order to encourage international students to make the most of their down-time, one of the special services to be offered within their ‘Pathways to Employment’ program is reviewing international students’ resumes and cover letters so that, when they apply for work, they are best positioned to be successful.

Where Melbourne Rotarians come in is to carry out these reviews in direct communication with the students who respond to this opportunity. A significant number of applicants for the service is anticipated, so we need lots of volunteers to be ready to do the reviewing! We will provide some guidelines as to resume formatting, standard letter styles etc.

Anyone who has been an employer and feels able to assist in this way should please contact Robert Fisher (arranden@bigpond.net.au M 0417 101 314), who is working with MCC Shane McIlroy, Senior Business Development Co-ordinator, International.
