MEET A NEW MEMBER – Deb Ashbolt
Deb Ashbolt was inducted on 27 May 2020 with the classification Marketing Philanthropy.
Deb was born in Melbourne and educated at Fintona Girls’ School and Swinburne University, completing a Degree in Marketing and Economics in 1983, and a post graduate diploma at the Securities Institute of Australia in 1990.
Directly from University, Deb joined the graduate program at Citibank Australia, and worked as a credit analyst in the Corporate Finance area. In 1986, Deb moved to Toronto Dominion Australia, and worked as a corporate foreign exchange and money market trader for ten years. Over this time, Deb served on the Board of Fintona Girl’s School and volunteered at St George’s Hospital visiting patients with her dog as part of a pet therapy program.
In 2001, Deb joined the John T Reid Charitable Trusts as Executive Officer, and learnt first hand the workings of a philanthropic trust. In 2014, after graduating from the Australian Institute of Company Director’s, Deb was promoted to Chief Executive Officer.
In mid 2019, Deb joined Bionics Institute and is currently working as Marketing and Philanthropy Advisor, combining her love of marketing and philanthropy, along with her keen interest in learning more about science.
Deb was married to her husband Malcolm for 25 years, and was sadly widowed in 2014. Along with her two daughters, Deb enjoys time at their beach house in Barwon Heads, and walks on the beach with their golden retriever. Deb enjoys yoga, pilates, cryptic crosswords and seeing live music. Deb is a member of the North Balwyn / Ivanhoe Group.
