And to think of peace either overarching or underpinning all of the elements, projects, avenues of service...everything we do in Rotary’s name. Since then it has been a fascination and the peace scholars so important to develop and fund.
To then be exposed to the RMIT day, meet peace advocates, to meet Australians for Peace and to know of the World Day of Peace, to learn of Leunig’s Peace Duck and that people write messages for peace was eye opening and incredible. To hear that Sudanese police officer who each day strives for peace in his community so intensely state, that he is daily misinterpreted as a hoodlum was so sad.
Two young women - Conchita from Saudi and Krystal from Vietnamese ethnicity at Melbourne Uni. I think of them and peace. They are linked in Rotary and it is so great they are. It is so difficult for our youth.
Thank you Bob for your advocacy for peace.
The peace badge is the only Rotary one I wear. It is so important. I will miss being on the panel this year. Best wishes, and congratulations on a most well deserved award that will be a wonderful legacy going forward.
With great respect
