ALISTAIR URQUHART

Thanks - Rotary Melbourne 22 July, 2020

"Might we all muse. As each of us here today on zoom, pretend to stand up, as though we were standing up at our table at a normal/physically-attended Rotary meeting.

(David Frieze need not stand up!! Don’t want to push the wonderful man too much). Shake the hand of the person next to you. Now sit down. Thank you.

You have, each of you, just shaken the hand of the most important person in the world. How Important.

At this time of Isolation, let each of us be Independent. The most important person in the world.

Each of us has to balance our Independence along-side the Isolation.

Together, looking after ourselves, so that we can then look after our families and friends, our Rotary, and wider society.

Sometimes, perhaps, by-passing an immediate bureaucratic road-block to, in real and practical terms, play our part; and create the best outcome.

Be positive. Know what is going on around you/us. Getting information to each other, and others. Be physically in the appropriate position.

How wonderful to have our guest Kirsten Sayers give us such a detailed briefing today.

Time for Reflection. Might this very difficult and complicated time bring us all together, with hard work and humor and respect and confidence."
