Back in February this year, PP Kevin was contacted by a Rotarian from Lake Forest-Lake Bluff USA to assist in presenting a Paul Harris Fellow on behalf of their Club. The qualifying donation was made by Rotarian Richard Janson on behalf of his daughter Carol Janson Bond.
Richard is the longest serving member of his Club – 42 years and is their Immediate Past President. He has joined us today from Illinois in the US. Carol’s Grandfather was a member of the RC Chicago.
Carol who lives in Melbourne and works at RMIT visited our Club back in February. Highlighting both the internationalism of Rotary, the reach across the waters and the modern ZOOM forum we are now meeting in.
Today we will make the presentation of Carol’s certificate and pin on behalf of the Rotary Club of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff USA.
The Paul Harris Fellow is named for Paul Harris, who founded Rotary with three business associates in Chicago in 1905. The Paul Harris Fellow was established in his honour in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution of USD1,000.00 to the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation.
Foundation programs provide educational opportunities, food, portable water, health care, immunisation and shelter for millions of persons. These activities are funded, implemented and managed by Rotarians and Rotary Clubs around the globe. Rotarians also designate a Paul Harris Fellow to recognize another person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives and mission of The Rotary Foundation to build world understanding and peace.
Dr Carol Janson Bond, you are being recognised today as a Paul Harris Fellow in special appreciation for the ways in which your life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of the Rotary Foundation. You were designated to receive this recognition by Richard Janson, Past President RC Rotary Club of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff USA.
Congratulations and we move closer to a more peaceful world today as Carol becomes a Paul Harris Fellow.
