Peter is recognised for two projects: The first was in the 1990’s after Melbourne lost its bid for the 1996 Olympics and Peter decided that Melbourne needed an alternative event. He created the very popular Melbourne Food and Wine Festival which is now a major Melbourne event.
The Festival is one of the world’s biggest, and most prestigious, food and wine gatherings. It has been credited by commentators and the food and wine community as influential in growing Victoria’s status as Australia’s culinary capital.
The second project was created when Peter heard fifteen years ago that Rosebud West Primary School was in the bottom 10% of Victorian primary schools. Peter visited the CEO of Mornington Shire and provided the funds for the introduction of the “Let’s Read” Program.
Anglicare volunteers worked with parents to involve them in the program and education of their children. Today, Rosebud West Primary School is in the top 10% of Victorian primary schools!
